Course Overview

A love and passion for animals are the key to a career in the animal industry.

This course is designed as an entry-level qualification to working with animals in an ever-growing and vibrant industry, and will provide you with the basic skills and knowledge of animal care. This includes health and safety, behaviour, nutrition, wellbeing, handling and enrichment. The focus of this course is on companion animal services, specifically dogs, cats and birds.

In order to gain practical experience working with animals, you will complete a work placement component in the animal industry. This will provide you with new skills and knowledge, and allows you to put into practice what you have learned in class. It will also assist with completing the practical component of the units of competency.
