Course Overview

This is the qualification you need if you want to become a certified bookkeeper, performing contract bookkeeping functions for clients or take on bookkeeping roles within a workplace for your employer.

You will learn to establish and maintain manual and computerised accounting systems, develop bookkeeping management systems for organisations, do general administration and complete Business Activity Statements (BAS) as required by GST registered businesses under Australian Taxation law.

Along the way you will also learn how to prepare and lodge approved forms about taxpayers’ liabilities, obligations or entitlements under the BAS system, provide taxpayer advice about their BAS obligations or deal with the Tax Commissioner on behalf of a taxpayer about their BAS provision.

The minimum educational requirement for becoming a registered BAS agent with the TPB is either a Cert IV in Bookkeeping or a Cert IV in Accounting
